The Philippine Independent Church, which had its roots in the Roman Catholic Church, was born out of revolution in 1902 after the Philippine-American War. In 1948, The Episcopal Church consecrated three bishops of the church, also known as the Iglesia Filipina Independiente. In 1962, following a series of dialogues, the churches formalized their partnership with a concordat of full communion.
