Embracing interpersonal relationship at the heart of our Christian practice, we seek to participate in God’s mission for the world through a large network of formal and informal groups and institutions.
Anglican Communion
The Episcopal Church—which includes more than 100 dioceses, or regions, of churches around the world—is itself one of 42 member churches of the Anglican Communion, which is the world’s third-largest gathering of Christians, after the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. Each church in the communion is autonomous, but we share history, liturgy, and structure.
Episcopal seminaries
Episcopal seminaries—located in California, Connecticut, Illinois, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin—offer multiple educational and degree options for both ordained and lay leaders.
Organizations and networks
From communicators to chaplains, musicians to historians, these groups affiliated with The Episcopal Church offer resources and connect members with common interests and areas of service.
Religious orders and Christian communities
For those who feel called to a deeper Christian commitment in community, The Episcopal Church recognizes more than 30 religious orders and communities. Many of these places also offer retreat space and spiritual direction for visitors.
Partner denominations
The Episcopal Church has what is known as “full communion” with several churches outside of our Anglican Communion, recognizing each other as holding the essentials of the Christian faith and welcoming each other to celebrations of the Eucharist.
