The Church of Sweden is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Sweden comprising more than 5 million members. After a long history of shared church work and life, The Episcopal Church and Church of Sweden entered a relationship of full communion in 2022. 

Leading up to the formal agreement, ecumenical offices of both churches—assisted by church historians—prepared a 2015 Report on the Grounds for Future Relations Between the Church of Sweden and The Episcopal Church. The report acknowledged decades of history between Swedish Lutherans and Episcopalians and identified areas of common mission.
