Seeking to grow and strengthen The Episcopal Church’s ministries that support members of Generation Z, the Department of Faith Formation is launching a churchwide survey geared toward young people and those who serve them.
From early work to support church missions to the struggle for equal representation in church leadership and ordination, the history of women in the church is told in “For the Extension of the Kingdom: Women of The Episcopal Church,” a comprehensive online exhibit curated and presented by The Archives of The Episcopal Church.
Episcopalians registered to attend the 81st General Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, are invited to daily worship services that seek to embody the church’s “beautiful mosaic of diversity.” Three Eucharist services—including one entirely in Spanish—and three Morning Prayer services will be offered June 23-28 and livestreamed.
The Rt. Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves, vice president of the House of Bishops, attended the 2024 Anglican Primates’ Meeting in Rome April 26 to May 3 on behalf of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. Every two years, senior bishops, archbishops, and moderators from the Anglican Communion’s 42 member churches meet for prayer, conversation, study, and fellowship.
In affirmation and celebration of The Episcopal Church’s LGBTQ+ members, the Office of Communication is pleased to unveil a new Pride shield available online for churchwide use.
The Episcopal Church Executive Council approved the awarding of 10 Constable Fund grants and 11 Roanridge Trust grants—together totaling $490,500—at its April meeting. The Joint Standing Committee on Mission Within The Episcopal Church and two grant review committees made the recommendations.
Forty Becoming Beloved Community grants supporting the work of racial justice, healing, reconciliation, and creation care were approved by The Episcopal Church’s Executive Council during its April meeting. The grants total $226,930.
Faith-based organizer Aaron Scott has been named gender justice staff officer—a new Episcopal Church position called for by the 80th General Convention that is dedicated to LGBTQ+ and women’s ministries. He will start on April 29.
