These prayers are not a replacement for action; they are meant to offer space for grounding and discernment as we seek to bear one another’s burdens in the love and way of Christ.

For Those Who Remain Detained in Immigration Detention Centers
God of salvation, who is present with the imprisoned and whose justice overcomes every form of captivity, we pray for those who remain detained in immigration detention centers. Strengthen your church to share in your work of mercy and justice, and give us a voice in this time that we might be witnesses to your steadfast love and faithful presence. Protect, bless, and soothe all those in detention and grant them hope, the kind of hope that only comes from the Prince of Peace, who suffered and was raised to glory. Grant all these things in the name of that Prince, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For Continued Protection of Federal Workers and Whistleblowers
God of truth, whose righteousness calls your people to integrity, justice, and love, we pray for federal workers and whistleblowers who are at risk of no longer being protected against retaliation. We know that our common life depends on the honest and faithful labor of thousands of civil servants at all levels of government. Sustain and guard their wellbeing in their anxiety, and grant wisdom to governing authorities that they may uphold honesty and safety in public service for the sake of the common good. Make us a people of good works, charity, and uprightness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For Earth’s Future
God of the land, who entrusted us with the care of the Earth and the naming of its creatures, we confess that we have often failed to live up to this holy calling. In times when protections for your creation are weakened and uncertain, we bring before you our fear for the future of the Earth. Grant us resolve amidst these fears that we might work faithfully for wise and just stewardship of our common home. Give business leaders, governments, and people everywhere the wisdom to act with integrity around these environmental issues. We ask this for the sake of your Son, who became flesh and sanctified all creation. Amen.
